July 30, 2008- More Trees Down

July 30, 2008- Once again today at 07:19 Stations 2 & 4 were dispatched to the area of 1235 Schuylkill Mountain Road, South Manheim Twp. for trees down blocking the roadway.

Chief 722 arrived on scene and advised that it was a large tree and that he was going to need help in getting the tree removed.  Squad 734 and Engine 737 crews arrived and used chain saws and brooms to clear the debris off the road.  All personnel were cleared in under 45 minutes.

July 29, 2008- Working Car Fire in Cressona

July 29, 2008- At 20:55 Station 4 was dispatched to assist District 41 (Cressona) to the area of 4 Graeff Street, Cressona Boro, for a working vehicle fire.

District 41 was dispatched for a vehicle fire at the above address, and once Chief 41 (Mansell) and Engine 41-17 arrived on scene, they realized that they had a working car fire without any fire hydrants available prompting Chief 41 to have County Comm Center dispatch Station 4 for Tanker 738.  Station 4 was only out of station for roughly 15 minutes.

July 29, 2008- Medical Assist

July 29, 2008- At 00:40 Schuylkill Hose and Liberty Fire were dispatched to assist Schuylkill Haven Police Department and Medic 63-01 to 83 St. James Street, Schuylkill Haven Boro, for an unknown medical emergency.  As the Engines were pulling into the scene, Duty Chief 723 (Donatti) advised that Engine 732, and Squad 734 could be released, while Engine 737 was going to remain on scene for lighting.  Chief 723 and Engine 737 remained on scene for about 1.5 hrs. before being released.

July 28, 2008- Standby in Station

July 28, 2008- At 11:10 Liberty Station #4 was dispatched for a Standby Assignment at their station for a possbile response to District 39 (Auburn) area for a possible house fire.  As District 39 command arrived on scene, he advised all incoming units to cancel, and that the Standby Companies could be released.

July 25, 2008- Another Day, Another Tree Down

July 25, 2008- This evening at 18:17 Stations 1 & 2 were dispatched to Seven Stars Road and West Second Mountain Road for a tree down.  Ladder 725 and Engine 732 took care of the tree, and all units were cleared.

July 24, 2008- Tree Down

July 24, 2008- At 10:49 Stations 2 & 4 were dispatched to the area of 253 South Berne Street, Schuylkill Haven Boro, for a tree down, partially blocking the roadway.

Duty Chief 722 arrived on scene to advise county that there was a large tree hanging on wires with the branches of the tree hitting cars passing it.  Crews from Engines 732 and 737 removed what they could of the branches and Chief 722 cleared all units within a half hour.

July 22, 2008- Transformer Fire on Union Street

July 22, 2008- At 22:01 Schuylkill Haven Stations 1 & 2 were dispatched to the area of 404 East Union Street, Schuylkill Haven Boro, for a transformer fire.  Chief 722, Ladder 725, and Engine 732 responded on the call and stood by as crews from the Schuylkill Haven Line Crew put the transformer back in service and restored power to the residents.

July 22, 2008- 1&2 Land”The Bird”

July 22, 2008- This morning at 10:38, the Rainbow and Schuylkill Hose were dispatched to 110 Route 61 South, North Manheim Twp. (The White Church) to set up a landing zone for incoming air medical.  Chief 722 (Sattizahn), Rescue 727, and Engine 732 were dispatched to assist Medic 63-01 at the landing zone for a trauma patient from the boro.  Crews assiste with patient handling and were cleared from the scene in about 25 minutes…….

July 21, 2008- Automatic Fire Alarm at Saint Ambrose School

July 21, 2008-

Early this morning at 04:21, S.H.F.D. was dispatched to 302 Randel Street, North Manheim Township, for an automatic fire alarm.  As Chief 722 (Sattizahn) arrived on scene he advised of nothing showing from the exterior.  Crews did a search of the entire building and came up with nothing other than a faulty alarm!!  All units cleared within 20 minutes.

July 18, 2008 – South Delaware Street, Minersville – Mr. D’s

July 18, 2008

At 11:31 Schuylkill Haven, Station 1 was dispatched for Ladder 725 to 309 South Delaware Street, Minersville Boro,(Mr. D's Interior's) for a working commerical fire.  Ladder 725 arrived on location and put their ladder into service as Minersville command was asking for R.I.T. out of Schuylkill Haven to be utilized on scene.  Engine 737 and Squad 739 responded with a group of 12 for R.I.T.  While Ladder 725 and R.I.T. was on location, Minersville command asked for Tanker 738 out of Station 4 to assist with tanker shuttles….more details to follow…….
