December 30, 2008- At 10:30 stations 2 & 4 were dispatched to the area of West Liberty Street and Railroad Street, Schuylkill Haven Boro, for a reported vehicle fire. As Duty Chief 720 went responding, he received a second call back saying that Schuylkill Haven PD was on scene confirming a working vehicle fire. Chief 720 arrived on scene shortly thereafter and noticed that the vehicle was endangering a garage. Within seconds the fire spread quickly thru the garage door prompting Chief Peel to fulfill the first alarm assignment bringing in station 1 for their Ladder. However, do to a quick knock down on the vehicle fire itself, there was only minimal damage to the garage. Crews doused the remaining hot spots on the car and continued to search for extension in the garage. All 3 stations were busy for roughly 1 hour.
December 30, 2008- Tree Down
December 30, 2008- Right at 06:00 the Rainbow and Schuylkill Hose were dispatched to Seven Stars Road and Weavers Road for a tree down. Engine 732 and Ladder 725 along with Chief 720 took care of the downed tree and were placed available within 45 minutes.
December 27, 2008- Medical Assist
December 27, 2008- At 13:37 stations 2 & 4 were dispatched to 255 Parkway, Apartment 1006, (Schuylkill Haven Hi-Rise) to assist Medic 63-01 with a lift assist. Both stations were cleared after only 10 minutes.
December 27, 2008- Unknown type fire
December 27, 2008- All 3 Schuylkill Haven Stations were dispatched to 60 East Second Mountain Road, North Manheim Twp, for an unknown type fire. Duty Chief 720 (Peel) went responding, and County Comm Center advised of a possible controlled burn. Ladder 725 was first to arrive on scene with flames showing and relayed to Chief 720 confirming a controlled burn. The Chief put himself and all apparatus clear and available.
December 27, 2008- Tree Down
December 27, 2008- At 08:34 stations 1 & 2 were dispatched to the area of 174 Seven Stars Road, North Manheim Twp, for a tree down blocking the roadway. Engine 732 and Squad 726 responded to the call, cut the tree and removed it from the roadway. Fire apparatus were on scene for 1 hour.
December 26, 2008- Medical Assist in the Boro
December 26, 2008- At 15:20 stations 1 & 4 were dispatched to assist Medic 63-01 at 533 Holiday Drive (Holiday Village) Schuylkill Haven Boro. Squad 726 and Engine 737 responded in to the scene and assisted the medics with lifting and were cleared shortly after.
December 25, 2008- Liberty goes to Orwigsburg
December 25, 2008- At 20:39 station 4 was dispatched to 1751 Oak Court, West Brunswich Twp, for a possible structure fire, assisting Districts 56, 42, and 47 (Orwigsburg, Deer Lake, and Landingville). Chief 56 (Hardinger) arrived on scene with moderate smoke showing and fire reported out. He allowed Station 56 to continue in and held the remaining units to stage at Schaeffer's Harley Davidson. After only a couple minutes, command placed all Schuylkill Haven units and returned back to the borough.
December 25, 2008- Tree down on Schuylkill Mountain
December 25, 2008- At 07:42 stations 2 & 4 were dispatched to the area of Berne Drive and Schuylkill Mountain Road for a tree down. Engines 737 and 732 handled the tree and were placed available within 15 minutes.
December 24, 2008- Business Structure Fire at Redner’s
December 24, 2008- While station 2 was tied up in Pine Grove Boro, the remaining Haven stations along with District 56 (Orwigsburg) who filled in for the Schuylkill Hose, were dispatched to 191 Manheim Rd, North Manheim Twp. for a "business structure fire". As units went responding, a call back came in that said it was believed to be a grease fire. Chief 720 (Peel) who was shopping at the time, advised county of a grease fire located in the deli department of the store, and that the fire was out, and all incoming units could reduce their rate. The crew from Engine 737 did an investigation using a gas sniffer as well as the thermal imager and found no problems. Crews shut off the gas to the fryer and were placed available in 20 minutes.
December 24, 2008- Move up assignment to Pine Grove Boro
December 24, 2008- At 08:25 Station 2 was dispatched to stand by at Pine Grove HH&L station in Pine Grove Boro, as Pine Grove, Friedensburg, and Summit Station were sent to a structure fire in Wayne Twp. Engine 732, and acting Duty Chief 730 (Reed) handled the move up.
