March 31, 2009- At 07:42 all 3 Haven stations were dispatched to Memorial Drive and Adamsdale Road for a motor vehicle accident. As units were rolling in, they were met with a single car MVA with a car into a stone wall. Crews were on scene cleaning up the debris and fluids and were released within an hour.
March 30, 2009- Schuylkill Haven R.I.T. goes to Pottsville City
March 30, 2009- At 01:24 the Schuylkill Haven RIT was dispatched to assist Pottsville at 404 West Fairview Street, Pottsville City, for a working apartment building fire. Pottsville units were quick to make a good knock down on the fire, and the RIT was not utilized. Schuykill Haven was out of town for about an hour. **Station 4 Photos**
March 29, 2009- Garage Fire on Schuylkill Mountain
March 29, 2009- At 22:30 all 3 Haven stations were dispatched to 968 Schuylkill Mountain Road, South Manheim Twp, for a possible garage fire. As units went repsonding they were advised of a vehicle fire inside the garage, and that the fire was reported out. Engine 737 arrived on scene and the fire was already out, and they checked for extension. Crews were on scene for 15 minutes.
March 29, 2009- MVA at Cressona Mall
March 29, 2009- At 12:01 Stations 1 & 2 along with District 41 (Cressona) were dispatched to 1530 Route 61 South, North Manheim Twp. (Cressona Mall) for a motor vehicle accident with fluids down. Engine 732, Rescue 727, and Squad 726 responded from Haven and assisted on the scene with cleaning up debris and clearing the roadway of fluids. S.H.F.D. was on scene for about 45 minutes.
March 28, 2009- Residential Rescue
March 28, 2009- At 11:11 station 1 was dispatched for Rescue 727 to assist Cressona Fire Dept. on a residential rescue at 125 Old Mill Road, North Manheim Twp. Crews arrived on scene to find a new home still under construction with a person that fell through the first floor of the house and into the basement. The problem was, was there was only one way in and one way out of the basement, and that was through the hole the the patient fell through.
Crews rigged up a stokes basket, ladders, and ropes and got the equipment down into the basement to the awaiting medic. He then placed the patient into the basket, while fire department members manned the 2 rope lines to extricate the patient from the hole. The patient was then sent to the awaiting Medevac 7, and all fire apparatus was cleared within 1.5 hours.
March 26, 2009- Stove fire in Cressona Boro
March 26, 2009- At 19:38 stations 1 & 4 were dispatched to assist District 41 (Cressona) on a possible apartment building fire at 10 Judy Drive (Amber Ridge Housing Development). As fire units went responding and arrived on scene it was determined that it was a grease fire on top of the stove. Crews did minor ventilation and were placed available in about 15 minutes.
March 26, 2009-”When the lights go down in the city…….”
March 26, 2009- At 17:19 all 3 Schuylkill Haven stations were dispatched to the area of 308 St. Charles Street, Schuylkill Haven Boro, for a reported transformer fire. One unlucky grey squirrel paid the ultimate sacrifice while attempting to play on the utility pole, and shut down power to most of the Schuylkill Haven residents. The fire department assisted SHPD with shutting down the road until the electric crew showed up. Time out was about 15 minutes.
March 25, 2009-”Crash at the Hill”
March 25, 2009- At 18:38 stations 1 & 4 were dispatched to the intersection of Berne Streets and Columbia Streets, Schuylkill Haven Boro, for a motor vehicle accident with injuries. One patient was transported via Schuylkill Haven ALS to a hospital, and fire apparatus arrived on scene to clean up debris and fluids on the roadway and were cleared in under a half hour. **MLK PHOTOS**
March 25, 2009- Another run, same address
March 25, 2009- Just as most units were backing into their stations and filling out reports, the tones drop again….This time, we're going to the same address for the same problem. This time, fire was visible, but before any fire units could arrive on scene the fire was extinguished. Then shortly after that, all units were clear and available after doing another sweep of the residence for any extension. Time out was 25 minutes.
March 25, 2009- House fire on News Street
March 25, 2009- At 10:45 the SHFD was dispatched to 18 News Street, North Manheim Twp, for a possible house fire. As units were responding, County Comm Center advised of a possible water heater fire inside a mobile home. Crews arrived on scene and checked for further extension after the fire was extinguished and nothing was found. Units were on scene for about 20 minutes. **MLK PHOTOS**
