November 22, 2009- At 14:48hrs stations 1 & 2 were dispatched to 3 Mardelle Avenue, North Manheim Twp, (located behind Renninger’s Market) for an ATV accident with injuries. When Chief 723 (Donatti) arrived on scene, he advised that the accident was located less then a half mile from the callers house. When apparatus arrived on scene, crews from both companies, assisted EMS and started the walk into the woods to get the patient while a crew worked on getting access to the area with 4×4 vehicles. Once crews got to the patient they assisted EMS with packaging and with extrication up the steep embankment. Meanwhile EMS requested MedEvac and Engine 732 was diverted to the Blue Mountain High School to set up the landing zone. Chief 723 command and units were on scene for approximately 1-1/2 hours between both calls.
November 21, 2009- MVA on Route 61
November 21, 2009- At 00:00n all 3 Schuylkill Haven stations were dispatched to the area of Sheetz gas station on Route 61 for a motor vehicle accident with no injuries with fluids down. Chief 723 (Donatti) arrived on scene to find a 2 car crash. After noticing only a small amount of fluid and debris on the roadway, Chief Donatti had Engine 733 roll in and held off the remaining units.
November 16, 2009- Transformer fires
November 16, 2009-At 16:21 the Schuylkill Haven Fire Department was dispatched to the area of 131 West Main Street, Schuylkill Haven Boro, for a reported transformer fire. As the units were going responding the County Comm Center was receiving numerous calls from other parts of town regarding the same problem. Each of the 3 companies were split up throughout the borough to ensure that the fires had been extinguished. After finding all of the poles affected, it was determined that there wasn’t anymore threat of fire and Chief 722 (Sattizahn) released himself and the department and turned the problem over to the Schuylkill Haven Line Crew. Time out was 25 minutes
November 12, 2009- MVA on Route 61
November 12, 2009- At 19:06 stations 1 & 2 along with District 53 (Mount Carbon) Pottsville Engines 11 and 71 and Rescue 63 were dispatched to the area of 1168 Route 61, N0rth Manheim Twp, for a motor vehicle accident with unknown injuries. However,before Rescue 727 and Engine 733 could go responding, they were placed available because of no injuries or entrapment.
November 10, 2009- MVA on Route 61
November 10, 2009- At 16:57 stations 1 & 2 were dispatched to 1494 Route 61 (Aldi’s Food Store), North Manheim Twp, for a motor vehicle accident with entrapment. As units were going responding, an additional report was given by County Comm. Center of a vehicle accident with entrapment and a report of one of the vehicle on fire. However, before any of the Schuylkill Haven units could arrive on scene, an EMT got on location and stated that there was no entrapment and that the fire was out. Rescue 727 and Engine 733 went to the scene and cleared debris off the roadway and assisted with patient care. Everybody was cleared from the scene within 30 minutes.
November 9, 2009- Back to back at the High School
November 9, 2009- Once again at 19:38 all 3 Schuylkill Haven stations were dispatched to the Schuylkill Haven Area High School for an automatic fire alram. This time when Chief Peel arrived on scene he found that the alarm was not reset from the first call. All units were cleared within 5 minutes.
November 9, 2009- AFA at SHHS
November 9, 2009- At 13:25 the Schuylkill Haven Fire Department was dispatched to 625 East Main Street, Schuylkill Haven Borough, (Sch. Haven High School) for an automatic fire alarm. Duty Chief 720 (Peel) was first to arrive on scene only to find a faulty alarm. He cleared himself and all Schuylkill Haven units.
November 6, 2009- Smoke in a house on Parkway
November 6, 2009- At 12:26 the Schuylkill Haven Fire Department and Orwigsburg Engine 56-10 (in place of Wagon 736) was dispatched to 123 Parkway, Schuylkill Haven Borough, for smoke in a house. Chief 723, Engine 737 and Engine 732 all arrived on scene about the same time and gained access to the residence to find a light smoke condition in the house due to a oil burner malfunction. Upon further investigation, it was found that the oil burner had “fallen apart” causing the smoke. The unit was shut down and the companies on scene set up PPV fans to ventilate the house. Everybody was on scene for about 40 minutes before returning.
November 3, 2009- Brush Fire
November 3, 2009- At 22:05 stations 1 & 2 were dispatched to Builtwell Road and Route 61 for a brush fire. Duty Chief 723 (Donatti) arrived on scene to find a small pile of leaves and some other brush burning. He had Engine 732 continue in to the scene and had the remaining units stage on Builtwell Road. Stations 1 & 2 remained on scene for over 2 hours before being released.
November 2, 2009- Landing Zone for Medevac 7
November 2, 2009- At 18:21 all 3 Schuylkill Haven stations were dispatched to the Schuylkill Haven Area High School to set up a landing zone for incoming Medevac 7, due to a traumatic injury sustained from a football game. However, since there was a football game at the school, the parking lot was packed with vehicles. Therefore, duty Chief 723 (Donatti) re-routed all responding units to “The Island” to set up the LZ. Apparatus assisted with lighting and patient care/loading and were placed available in just under 45 minutes.
