August 2, 2010- At 02:28 stations 2 & 4 were dispatched to assist Districts 47, 42, and 56 (Landingville, Deer Lake and Orwigsburg) on a house fire at 127 Woodland Drive, South Manheim Twp. As chiefs and apparatus were en-route, SCCC advised them of “no reported fire” with just smoke throughout the residence. Chief 47 (Hoffman) arrived on scene shortly thereafter and was met with visible smoke and fire from the residence. Engines 733 and 737 arrived on scene right at the same time. E-737 laid a section of LDH at the end of the driveway and E-733 was already setting up a dump tank for dump tank/tanker shuttle operations as Tanker 738 shortly arrived and was on deck to dump. Luckily the tanker didn’t need to dump there load as the interior crews made a great hit on the fire and saved the house from more considerable damage. At the request of Chief 47, station 1 was also added to the call about 20 minutes into the fire for their cascade system to fill air cylinders. The SHFD was busy and out of the borough for over an hour.
July 31, 2010- Double Duties on Route 61
July 31, 2010- At 10:56 stations 1& 2 were dispatched to the intersection of Route 61 and University Drive, North Manheim Twp, for a motor vehicle accident with no injuries but with fluids down. Rescue 726 and Engine 733 arrived on scene and began to apply floor dry to the affected areas of the highway as well as removing debris from the crash. Soon after the crews were busy, Chief 722 (Sattizahn) was met with yet another crash on the southbound side of the highway. He asked to have Utility 734 and a paramedic assist him at the scene. Luckily, both crashes were minor in nature and apparatus cleared the scene in under an hour.
July 31, 2010- Special Chief’fs Request
July 31, 2010- At 02:18 the SHFD was dispatched for any available members with an ATV to respond to the area of the State Game Lands just outside the borough to assist Chief 720 (Peel), State Police and Sch. Haven Police on a search. Responding members remained on scene for nearly 4 hours assisting with the search.
July 30, 2010- Another MVA in the township
July 30, 2010- At 15:21 stations 1 & 2 were dispatched to 1494 Route 61, North Manheim Twp, for a motor vehicle accident with no injuries. Rescue 726 and Engine 733 arrived on scene to find fluids down on the roadway. They applied floor dry down to the affected area and were cleared within 20 minutes.
July 30, 2010- MVA at Cressona Mall
July 30, 2010- At 09:04 stations 1 & 2 along with District 41 (Cressona) were dispatched to the entrance of the Cressona Mall for a motor vehicle accident with fluids down and minor injuries. Crews applied floor dry and removed debris on the roadway and remained on scene for nearly an hour until PSP arrived on scene.
July 26, 2010- AFA at the”JuLu”
July 26, 2010- At 13:32 the SHFD was dispatched to 252 Dock Street, Jerusalem Lutheran Church, for an automatic fire alarm. Crews arrived on scene and conducted a search and determined it to be a false activation.
July 25, 2010- Unknown type alarm at Rockwood Center
July 25, 2010- At 20:12 stations 1 & 2 were dispatched to 1510 Route 61, North Manheim Twp, for an unknown type alarm. The entire building was searched by the companies on scene, and it was determined to be an accidental trip. Everybody was cleared after 30 minutes.
July 25, 2010- AFA at Rest Haven Nursing Home
July 25, 2010- At 13:44 the SHFD was dispatched to 401 University Drive, North Manheim Twp, at the Rest Haven Nursing Home for an automatic fire alarm. Once units arrived on scene, they checked the building with a TIC and came up with nothing. Duty Chief 730 (Reed) and all apparatus remained on scene for about 40 minutes.
July 24, 2010- Tree down in the borough
July 24, 2010- At 22:33 stations 1 & 2 were dispatched to the area of 743 North Garfield Ave, Schuylkill Haven Boro, for a tree down on wires. Ladder 725 and Engine 733 arrived on scene and cut up the tree leaning on the wires and moved the debris. Time out was about 20 minutes.
