August 28, 2011 – The SHFD was dispatched to multiple calls during the early morning hours of August 28th. Stations 2 & 4 were dispatched for multiple trees down on Berne Drive and May Drive. Later on, Stations 1 & 2 were dispatched to multiple trees blocking the roadway on Second Mountain Road, North Manheim Township. In all the department responded to 6 calls during the duration of the storm.
August 26, 2011 – MVA w/Unknown Injuries
August 26, 2011 – At 1725 Stations 1 & 2 were dispatched to the area of 1476 Route 61 South for an accident with unknown injuries. Crews arrived on scene and found no injuries or fluids down. All units were then placed available by Chief 723.
August 24, 2011 – Medical Assist (Highrise)
August 24, 2011 – At 16:55 Stations 2 and 4 were dispatched to 255 Parkway Avenue to assist EMS with a fall victim. Fire personnel assisted EMS by lifting a patient. All units were then placed available by Chief 720.
August 19, 2011 – MVA w/Injuries (Main Street)
August 19, 2011 – At 18:22 Stations 1 & 2 were dispatched to the area of East Main Street and Queen Avenue for a vehicle accident with injuries and fluids down. Crews arrived on scene to find a two vehicle accident head-on collision with minor injuries. Fire personnel secured the vehicles and assisted EMS. Floor absorbent was also applied to the area around the vehicles. All units were on scene for approximately 60 minutes.
August 18, 2011 – MVA w/UnKnown Injuries
August 18, 2011 – At 01:00 Stations 2 & 4 were dispatched to the intersection of South Berne and Washington Streets for a vehicle accident with unknown injuries. Crews arrived on scene and found a single car accident with a vehicle into a retaining wall and fence. Fire personnel applied floor dry to the area around the vehicle and assisted the tow company with removal. Station 2 and Station 4 were on scene for approximately 30 minutes.
August 17, 2011 – Fluids on the Roadway
August 17, 2011 – At 15:15 Stations 1, 2, and 4 were dispatched to the area of Dock Street and Main for fluids on the roadway. Crews arrived on scene a found a large amount of transmission fluid leaking from a vehicle. Crews applied floor absorbent to the area of the spill. All units were then cleared by Chief 720.
August 14, 2011 – Working Structure Fire (Orwigsburg)
August 14, 2011 – At 13:25 Station 4 was dispatched to 680 S. Liberty Street, Orwigsburg Borough, for a working structure fire. Crews arrived on scene and assisted Orwigsburg Fire with overhaul operations. All units were on scene for over 2 hours as the scene was investigated.
August 12, 2011 – AFA Schuylkill Haven High School
August 12, 2011 – At 13:10 the SHFD was dispatched to 501 E. Main Street in the borough (the SHHS) for an automatic fire alarm. Just as all units began to respond it was determined to be a false activation and all units were placed available by Chief 722.
August 10, 2011 – Water Rescue (Kernsville Dam)
August 10, 2011 – At 14:59 the SHFD Dive Team was dispatched to the area of the Kernsville Dam, Berks county for a possible water rescue. Just as all units began to respond they were advised to stand by in station via Berks command. Berks units quickly assisted 3 people off of a small island in the river downstream of the Kernsville dam and released all Haven dive units. Over 20 members of the Dive Team were on stand-by.
