April 26, 2012 – MSA Live Fire Demonstration (Schuylkill County Fire School)

April 26, 2012 -Members from Stations 2 & 4 took part in a live fire demonstration held by MSA and Susquehanna Fire Equipment at the Schuylkill County Fire School. Representatives from MSA and Susquehanna Fire Equipment demonstrated different models and new features of their current SCBA and Thermal Imagery Camera product lines. Fire personnel were then given the opportunity to enter a building containing live fire to demo the equipment and products. The demonstration was also a great learning opportunity and review on the effects of fire and thermal layers inside of a burning building. The SHFD would like to thank Susquehanna Fire Equipment and MSA for a great experience.

April 25, 2012 – MVA w/Injuries (St. John St.)

April 25, 2012 – At 22:18 the Stations 1 & 2 were dispatched to the area of 213 Saint John Street, for a vehicle accident with injuries. Crews arrived on scene to find a two vehicle rear-end collision with a minor injury and fluids down. Fire personnel secured the vehicles and applied absorbent to the fluids. All units were cleared after the tow company arrived. Chief 723 had command.

April 24, 2012 – Working Sign Fire (Country Squire Restaurant)

April 24, 2012 – At 23:17 Stations 2 & 4 were dispatched to 308 Route 61 South, North Manheim Township (the Country Squire Restaurant) for an unknown type fire. Chief 722 (Donatti) arrived on scene to find smoke coming from the large sign in front of the restaurant. Chief 722 then requested Station 1 for Ladder 725. Crews from the ladder used an dry-chem extinguisher to smother the source of the smoke. All units were then placed available.

April 21, 2012 – Chief 730 Requests T-738 (May Ann Hill)

April 21, 2012 -At 19:52 Chief 730 requested Station 4 for T-738 to assist with extinguishing a large burning pit of debris next to an apartment complex. Crews used 2,000 gallons of water along with rakes to extinguish the blaze. T-738 and S-739 were on scene for approximately 30 minutes until “wrap-up”. Chief 730 had command.

April 21, 2012 – Odor Investigation (Lehigh Valley Dairy)

April 21, 2012 -At 18:56 Stations 1 & 2 were dispatched to 150 Manheim Road (Lehigh Valley Diary) for an odor investigation. Crews arrived on scene and used gas meters and PPV fans to search and ventilate the structure. Chief 730 had command.

April 21, 2012 – Stand-by Assignments For Stations 1 & 2

April 21, 2012 -  Stations 1 & 2 were dispatched for Ladder 725 and E-733 to stand-by at the Hamburg fire station as crews from surrounding companies battled the 3-alarm blaze in Lenhartsville, Berks County. All units were on stand-by for over 3 hours.

April 21, 2012 – R.I.T. Assignment Lenhartsville Berks County

April 21, 2012 – At 09:21 the Schuylkill Haven Rapid Intervention Team (RIT) was dispatched to 90 West Penn Street Lenhartsville, Berks County as part of a third alarm assignment for a working structure fire. Fire personnel arrived on scene and assisted command with various duties including: personnel accountability, hazmat operations (as fluids were leaking from the burning structure), and overhaul. All SHFD units were on scene for approximately 3 hours. Chief 730 (Reed) had command. Photos via Chief 735 (Kremer).

 

 

April 20, 2012 – Commercial Fire (Alpha Mills)

April 20, 2012 – At 11:31 the SHFD was dispatched to 122 South Margaretta Street, in the Borough for a commercial fire. Chief 720 arrived on scene and found that the sprinkler system had activated due to a small fire in the structure. The sprinkler system was successful in knocking down the fire. Crews assisted with salvage operations and water removal. All units were on scene for approximately 2 hours. Chief 720 had command.

April 20, 2012 – Stations 1 & 2 Get Traffic Control Assignment

April 20, 2012 -At 10:01 Stations 1 & 2 were dispatched to 1614 Route 61 South for a traffic control assignment. Crews directed traffic around a disabled tractor trailer until it was removed from lanes of traffic. All units were on scene for approximately 30 minutes. Chief 720 had command.

April 17, 2012 – Smoke In A Structure (PSU Nittany V)

April 17, 2012 – At 22:05 the SHFD was dispatched to 501 University Drive for an automatic fire alarm. PSU PD arrived on scene to find burnt food and advised Chief 720. The call was then held to Station 2 for ventilation. All units were on scene for approximately 15 minutes. Chief 720 had command.
